Your task is to use the Internet and as many family resources, as possible, to find the following information:
1. Name and location of your country of origin
2. Main Economic Activities/Industry
3. Political Structure/Government type, and include the names of the current leaders
4. 3-5 Unique Cultural Traits (Be sure they are different than the US) this can include holidays and festivals
5. The flag (Include the meaning of the symbols and/or colors)
6. Facts such as:
a) Population
b) Life expectancy
c) Size (Geographical)
d) Standard of Living also known as Gross Domestic Product-Per Capita
e) Main geographic features
f) Important historical, athletic, and entertainment figures

7. Include information about your family history/background (Any information)
8. Create a collage of pictures showing a visual representation of your country (A good choice is to choose a picture for each answer above)
9. You will present your assignment to the class

You will compile all the above information and create a well organized and highly detailed wiki of your findings/research. You may use pictures, flash animations, or photoshop for your visual component. You may also use inspiration and inspire data, where appropriate to show additional visual information. For example, you can use inspire data to show the changes in your country's population over a specific time period. I am looking for you to demonstrate your research skills in conjunction with your technology skills by using different applications to showcase your information on the wiki. You must invite me as an administrator for your wiki so that I can contribute as well as provide links to specific sites to aide you with your assignment.

Note: If you are able to trace your roots from more than one country, you may choose whichever you like. If you are or consider yourself to be African-American, and you are not sure what country to choose, you may choose a country from Sub-Sahara West Africa

Also should you choose to create a powerpoint slide presentation for part of your assignment you may create it on your computer, upload it to this site (Author Stream), and embed it into your wiki. In addition if you choose to make a timeline of your life or any other appropriate information you may create it on this site (CircaVue) and embed it into your wiki as well. And finally if you would like to include any family photos or other information that is visual you may create an online story on this site (Show Beyond) and embed your story into your wiki.

When doing your research you will find that a Primary Source is generally the best way to obtain the information you are seeking. Please consider the following questions when speaking with a family member:

1. What city, town, or village is my family originally from?
2. Do I still have relatives living there?
3. Are any of my relatives in a position of power or other important position in the city, town, or village?
4. Why and how did we get to this country?
5. What are some of the things my family does in there that are part of our culture?
6. What is one thing that I do not know and would not know if I did not ask you?
7. Can you show me any pictures of my origin?
8. Is it possible to contact any of my relatives that still live there?
